Battle of the Bands
The 2008 Battle of Bands winner is Fairweather Friend. Band members include Trevor Mason, Jay Dachaur, Joey Head and Michael Sheldon all from Central Catholic High School. This year 11 bands auditioned for 4 slots at the final event which was held Friday, February 23rd. The other finalists included Rocket Queen, Criminal, and Arson Committee. The event was presented by the Twin City Teen Committee and hosted by the Bloomington and Normal Parks & Recreation Departments. Prizes were awarded with the winning band receiving Best Buy gift certificates, a chance to be on 96.7 I-Rock radio, an opportunity to play at the new Normal Parks & Recreation outdoor stage and a chance to move onto the Illinois Regional Battle of the Bands competition this summer!
Battle of the Bands Auditions
Auditions for the 2008 High School Battle of the Bands [PDF] were held on January 19. A total of eleven bands auditioned. In the end, our panel of adult and teen judges selected these four for the honor of playing at the February 22 Battle of the Bands.
